Definition: enterprise network

A local area network (LAN) in a large company. It may also include wide area networks (WANs) that link offices in remote locations or around the world. In the past, an enterprise network comprised several types of network protocols. However, since the advent of the commercial Internet, local networks almost all use the TCP/IP and Ethernet protocols. See enterprise networking, TCP/IP and Ethernet.
