One of the major advantages of edge AI is that all processing takes place in-house and is thus less vulnerable to eavesdropping than queries and responses traversing the Internet to a cloud service. A disadvantage is that edge AI misses out on the additional knowledge gained in the cloud from the huge amounts of data that are captured. See inference engine
