Definition: eWorld

An earlier online service from Apple aimed at the consumer market and as a competitor to AOL, the online king at the time. Only available on the Mac computer, eWorld was introduced in mid-1994, but abandoned less than two years later. The primary eWorld services were email and a bulletin board system (BBS) called Community Center. In 1995, eWorld introduced limited Internet access, but by the time of its demise had less than one half of one percent the number of subscribers as AOL. See ePeople.
