Definition: dub-dub-dub

A fast way of verbalizing the WWW in a URL in the early days of the Web. Dub-dub-dub reduces nine syllables to three ("3-dub" is an alternate). Eventually websites were set up so that their URLs defaulted to the WWW prefix without it having to be typed in (see DNS). See URL, Internet domain name. See also dub.
