Redirected from: domain impersonation

Definition: domain spoofing

The use of a misleading domain name in an email message in order to pose as a trustworthy sender. Domain spoofing resembles the legitimate domain but with slightly altered spelling, perhaps only one letter added or missing. To add to the authenticity, company logos can easily be copied from genuine sites and added to email signatures. See conversation hijacking and email spoofing.
