Definition: digital monitor


(1) A monitor that accepts a digital signal from the computer. Most computer monitors today are digital but may also have an optional input that accepts analog signals from a VGA graphics card (see VGA).

(2) A monitor that accepts a digital signal from the computer and converts it into analog signals to illuminate the screen. Examples are the earlier MDA, CGA and EGA monitors used with PCs. Contrast with analog monitor.
