Definition: digital CRT

A CRT monitor that accepted digital signals from the computer's graphics card (display adapter) and converted them to analog right before the electron gun stage. The earlier CGA and EGA display standards for PCs were examples of digital systems. Although they provided sharper images than an analog monitor at the equivalent resolution, they still generated more internal radiation than a digital flat panel display, which has no electron gun. See analog monitor, CGA and EGA.
