Definition: Dark Matter electric motor
A compact, lightweight electric motor that is part of the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) power train in "hypercars" from Koenigsegg in Sweden. Weighing 86 pounds, the motor generates 800 horsepower, but instead of the common three-phase electric, the Dark Matter motor uses a six-phase "Raxial Flux" design. The motor is expected in power trains beyond luxury automobiles. See PHEV.

Custom designed for each buyer, Koenigsegg's Gemera plug-in hybrid (PHEV) uses the Dark Matter motor and a gas engine.
