Definition: PURB


(Padded Uniform Random Blob) A framework for designing an encrypted storage format that is difficult to decipher if stolen. A major rule of PURB design is no padding to a fixed length, which can be a signal for identification. A PURB is a complex format to encrypt and decrypt. See cryptography and BLOB.
