Web pages and Web-based applications that render properly in all Web browsers. Cross-browser functionality is the goal of website and browser developers. Although standards from the W3C have helped programmers create cross-browser software, every browser on the market does not render every Web page identically. For developers, a cross-browser utility can render a page in multiple layout engines all at once rather than manually having to load the page into separate browsers. See HTML5 and browser engine.
Close Enough Is Generally Acceptable
This is how three major browsers rendered this encyclopedia's website years ago when a new design was first tested. It took several tweaks to the code to make the menu buttons align properly on all three.
