An umbrella term for the manufacture and deployment of computer-based electronics, which includes phones, tablets, PCs, Macs, watches, smart speakers, virtual assistants, appliances, robots and AI. The computer field also includes the semiconductor manufacturers, because almost every machine in the modern world, including cars, trucks, planes, trains, rockets, drones and heavy machinery, uses copious numbers of computer chips.
