Definition: F connector

A two-wire (signal and ground) coaxial cable connector used to connect antennas and set-top boxes to TVs, VCRs and DVDs. F connector cables typically carry analog NTSC TV signals, and the plug's socket is easily identified by its threads. Plugs come threaded and unthreaded, both of which fit the threaded socket. See A/V ports and plugs and sockets.

F connectors are commonly used for connecting antennas and cable set-top boxes to TVs and other video equipment. The socket is marked "ANTENNA" or "ANT/CABLE" or "RF," the latter referring to the analog video "radio frequency" signal. See RF.
