Definition: cloud robotics

Robotic systems that use servers in the datacenter to augment much of their processing. For example, a self-contained robot that uses machine vision to identify its environment accesses its own database of objects for comparison. When that process is offloaded to the cloud, the robot can take advantage of a much larger database of objects that may be continuously updated. See robotics and cloud.
