Definition: additive manufacturing

Building products one layer at a time. Also called "additive fabrication," the term refers to 3D printing. However, professionals in the field often use "additive manufacturing" (AM) and "3D printing" as separate terms. In such cases, AM refers to industrial-grade 3D printers deployed for business, whereas "3D printing" refers to desktop personal printers used for recreation. See additive fabrication.
