(Zoox, Inc., Foster City, California) A self-driving taxicab company founded in 2014 and acquired by Amazon in 2020. Although Zoox used existing vehicles for testing, it builds its robotaxis from the ground up. In 2018, test trials began in San Francisco, and in 2023, open road testing with live passengers began in California and Nevada. Zoox all-electric taxis can drive up to 75 miles per hour. See
