A startup accelerator that has launched more than 2,000 high-tech companies, including Airbnb and Dropbox. Founded in 2005, Y Combinator programs were conducted in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Mountain View, California. In 2009, the Cambridge office was closed in order to streamline operations in one location. Some 40 to 60 investments are made each year for new ventures. See startup accelerator.
