Definition: Xohm

A high-speed, wireless network for Internet access from Sprint Nextel that debuted in Baltimore in 2008. Using the WiMAX transmission technology, Xohm (pronounced "zome") was the first IEEE 802.16 deployment in the U.S. to compete with cable, DSL and cellular providers. With investments from Google, Intel, Comcast and Time Warner, Xohm merged with Clearwire in 2008 and switched its branding to CLEAR. See Clearwire, 802.16 and WiMAX.
