Definition: XGA

(EXtended Graphics Array) An interlaced screen resolution of 1,024x768 pixels introduced in 1990 by IBM. Supporting 256 colors, XGA extended VGA's text mode from 80 to 132 columns. XGA was later enhanced to non-interlaced and 64K colors. Over the years, vendors added numerous resolutions that were fractions or multiples of the total number of pixels in XGA. See VGA and screen resolution.
