A lightweight version of Windows specifically designed to compete with the Chromebook was announced in 2020 but never delivered. Windows 10X was expected to launch with Microsoft's dual-screen Surface Neo tablet. In 2021, 10X was dropped, and the dual-screen capability was incorporated into Windows 10. See
