Definition: Wi-Fi 6

Wi-Fi 6 is the designation for the 802.11ax standard. With this version, the Wi-Fi Alliance switched to a simpler naming convention. There was never really a Wi-Fi 1, 2, 3, etc., only a letter designation after the 802.11 prefix, such as 802.11a and 802.11b. However, the previous versions of 802.11 were retroactively branded Wi-Fi 1, Wi-Fi 2, etc. (see 802.11 versions). See 802.11ax and 802.11.
