Definition: VxFS


(VERITAS File System) A journaling file system for various Unix systems from VERITAS Software Corporation, Mountain View, California that provides high performance on large volumes of data and fast recovery from system failure. Together with VERITAS Volume Manager, VxFS makes up the company's Storage Foundation product. In mid-2005, VERITAS, a leader in storage software, merged with security software leader Symantec Corporation. See journaling file system.
