Definition: UltraHD Premium


A certification from the Ultra High Definition Alliance (UHDA) for 4K HDR TVs. UltraHD Premium TVs must have a 4K 3840x2160 resolution and support 10-bit color depth. It also has to support the perceptual quantizer method for high dynamic range (see PQ and HDR). Depending on the type of TV, peak brightness for LCD TVs must be more than 1,000 nits with black levels below 0.05 nits or 540 and 0.0005 nits for OLED TVs. See Ultra HD, 4K TV and color depth.
