Definition: Stratus


(Stratus Technologies, Maynard, MA) A manufacturer of fault-tolerant computers used both within and at the edge of the network. Founded in 1980, the Stratus product line initially ran on Motorola hardware and later HP's PA-RISC systems using various versions of Unix. Current models are based on Intel processors running VMware, Windows and Linux. Product lines include the ztC Edge, ftServer and top-of-the-line V Series.
