Definition: Sequoia

The latest release of the macOS (Version 15), following Sonoma. Introduced in 2024 and available for most Intel Macs and all M-based Macs, Sequoia features a cross-platform password manager, math capability in Notes, a redesigned calculator app and Apple's AI, the latter requiring an M CPU (see Apple Intelligence).

Menus in System Settings have been modified to make it easier to make common changes, and Safari includes features of the compact mode in iOS/iPadOS devices such as a unified menu. Safari also includes Reader, an updated reader mode.

When a window is dragged to the edge of the screen, it can be tiled similar to Microsoft Windows, and many new suggestions have been added to the Tips application. See macOS.

iPhone Mirroring
Sequoia offers iPhone mirroring for users with iOS 18 and above. Everything on the phone can be operated from the Mac screen; however, both devices must be within a couple meters of each other, and there can be a slight delay in some operations. (Image courtesy of Alex Clayton.)
