Definition: ScreenCam

One of the first screencast programs used to record screen output for demos and training. Introduced in 1994 by IBM Lotus, the product was later acquired by SmartGuyz, Inc. ScreenCam originally used its own .SCM file format and required a free runtime player that could also be embedded into a self-running video. Subsequent versions export the video to the popular flash movie format. As an early screencast product, the term may be used generically for this application. See screencast.
