Definition: Satoshi

The smallest fraction of coins in the Bitcoin digital currency system. Named after Satoshi Nakamoto, the alias of the inventor of Bitcoin, one Satoshi is one hundred millionth (0.00000001) of a bitcoin. In order for one Satoshi to be equal to one United States cent, one Bitcoin has to be worth $1 million. In the Ethereum blockchain, the "wei" is a fraction of the native currency (see wei).
