Definition: SVGA

(Super VGA) A screen resolution of 800x600 pixels. In the late 1980s, VESA increased IBM's VGA display standard from 640x480 to 800x600 and coined the Super VGA term. Higher resolutions were later added all under the VGA/SVGA banner. Because VGA/SVGA is an analog technology, there is no limit to the number of colors that can be displayed. See VGA, screen resolution and VESA.
