Definition: SSD lifespan

The length of time a solid state drive (SSD) is able to maintain its integrity. All NAND cells in SSDs have a limited number of erasures and writes, and cells must be erased before being written. The SSD technology is designed to spread out the block writes so that continuously updated data are written into different blocks each time they change. A measurement of endurance is given in the number of terabytes written (TBW). See SSD and NAND flash.
