Definition: QLED


(Quantum dot LED) A future display technology similar to OLED but one which uses quantum dots to emit light. QLED is expected to be more power efficient than OLED and less costly to manufacture. QLED is also ultra-thin, transparent and flexible. See OLED.

In 2017, Samsung introduced its QLED line of TVs, which are actually LCD-based TVs that are augmented with quantum dots. Although excellent TV sets, they are not pure quantum dot LED TVs. See LED TV and SUHD.
