Definition: PLP charging

(Power Loss Protection charging) Preventing a loss of data in a flash memory device if power is turned off during a write-to-storage operation, which can occur if it is ejected prematurely. Writing to flash memory entails writing to a cache first, and on-board capacitors in the device provide a few seconds of power to transfer the cache to the storage chips. See write cache.

PLP Charging in External Storage
This Dockcase external storage case holds an SSD on an M.2 card and includes a 1.25" display. When power is applied to the case, capacitors are charged, which provide enough power to empty the cache. See M.2.
