Definition: Ogg Vorbis

An open source audio compression method from the Xiph.Org Foundation. Also a lossy method like MP3 and AAC, Ogg Vorbis is considered better than MP3 but comparable to AAC in sound quality while providing lower bit rates and therefore smaller file sizes. The Vorbis codec generates 16 bit samples at 16 to 48 KHz and bit rates from 16 to 128 Kbps per channel. See Ogg, Ogg Theora and lossy compression.
