Definition: NLM

(1) (NetWare Loadable Module) System and application software that ran in a NetWare server. Although NetWare servers stored DOS and Windows applications, they did not execute them. In order to run in a NetWare server, the programs, which were typically written in C, had to be recompiled into the NLM format using Novell's software libraries. NLMs were introduced with 32-bit NetWare 3.x, while the NLM equivalent for earlier 16-bit NetWare 2.x servers was the Value Added Process (VAP). See NetWare.

(2) (National Library of Medicine) See healthcare IT.
