Definition: NVDIMM

(Non-Volatile DIMM) A category of "peristent memory modules" defined by JEDEC. NVDIMM-N places DRAM and NAND flash memory on the same DIMM module. A battery automatically transfers the content from DRAM to NAND in the event of power failure.

NVDIMM-F places non-volatile flash memory that uses the DDR bus of dynamic RAM (DRAM).

NVDIMM-P is an upcoming standard that combines the block addressing of NAND flash and byte addressing of dynamic RAM (DRAM). See NVRAM.
