Definition: NOC

(1) (Network Operations Center) A central or regional location for monitoring a large network. Also called a "network management center" (NMC), "service management center" (SMC) or "network control center" (NCC), a NOC may be used to manage a large enterprise network, telecommunications network or TV broadcasting network. (2) (Network On Chip) A programmable network within a chip. NOCs are typically found on high-end systems-on-chip (SoCs), which have a variety of processing units as well as programmable circuits that have to be tied together. See Versal.
