Definition: Musipedia

A music database and identification website that enables a song or musical piece to be recognized by its melody, rhythm or music notation. Community driven and called "The Open Music Encyclopedia," the data are edited by registered users.

Multiple Search Methods
Songs are searched with examples such as playing a simulated piano, drawing the notes, singing the melody in monosyllables ("na-na-nuh-na-na"), tapping it out in a melodic fashion or entering its melodic contour (see Parsons Code).

Client programs can access the Musipedia database using SOAP-based messages, and a MIDI piano connected to the computer can also be used (see SOAP and MIDI). See music search.
