Definition: Microsoft Teams


A collaboration platform from Microsoft. Introduced in 2017, Microsoft Teams offers file storage, chat, video and voice calling with Office 365 integration. Teams, which is available both free and paid, replaced Skype for Business and Microsoft Classroom. See Skype for Business.

Microsoft Teams Rooms
Used for group conferences, Rooms synchronizes users' computers, whiteboards and wall-mounted displays to provide an optimal meeting for employees in a conference room as well as remote locations. For example, local device audio is automatically muted when external microphones are detected. Microsoft recommends various providers of A/V hardware. See videoconferencing software.
