Definition: Wireless Display Adapter

A Miracast-based device from Microsoft that plugs into a TV, projector or monitor via HDMI and USB. Starting with Windows 8, the Wireless Display Adapter (WDA) lets a Miracast-enabled Windows PC, tablet or phone mirror its screen on the connected screen via Wi-Fi. Starting with the Anniversary Edition of Windows 10, Microsoft switched support from the WiDi protocol to Miracast, thus requiring a Wireless Display Adapter. See Miracast and WiDi.
