A comprehensive set of business applications originally developed by Great Plains Software and acquired by Microsoft in 2001. Under the Microsoft Dynamics GP brand, modules are available for most business functions, including sales, supply chain (inventory), purchasing, payroll and manufacturing.

In 1981, Great Plains Software, Fargo, ND, was founded by Doug Burgum to provide accounting software for DOS. It was the first to offer a comprehensive set of business applications for Windows. See Microsoft Dynamics.
