Definition: Copilot

Microsoft's virtual assistant and AI chatbot. Integrated into Windows and the Bing search engine, users can ask Copilot general-purpose questions. Based on OpenAI's GPT natural language system, Copilot is also used to activate Windows functions with commands such as "take a screenshot" or "change to dark mode." When originally introduced in Bing, the chatbot was called "Bing Chat" and Bing was called the "New Bing." The chatbot was rebranded Copilot in 2023. In early 2024, Microsoft launched Copilot Pro, a paid version with more features that uses the latest GPT version from OpenAI. See Bing Chat and Bing.
