An early, full-featured Mac word processing program from Apple and its Claris subsidiary that was originally packaged with every Mac. First released to a mainstream audience in 1984, MacWrite (and its counterpart, MacPaint) took the GUI application world by storm. MacWrite offered multiple type styles and a WYSIWYG interface. See
