Definition: MDBS IV

An earlier DBMS that runs on DOS, OS/2, Unix, MPE and VMS servers from Micro Data Base Systems, Inc., Lafayette, IN. Noted for its performance and maturity (in 1984, MDBS III was the first client/server DBMS), it provided a superset of hierarchical, network and relational storage concepts. The successor to MDBS IV is the Titanium database engine, which added object-oriented technology and data modeling. It is sold by Savitar Corporation, which holds exclusive licensing rights for the Micro Data Base Systems product line.
