A button placed on websites and blogs that Facebook members click to receive the latest posts from those venues on their personal Facebook News Feed. This button on the Computer Language Company website is a link to the company's Facebook page. Members who click the Like button on that page get a link to a CDE definition every day in their News Feed.

Advertise or Buy
Facebook itself is a major venue for ads that draw members to Facebook business pages, and targeted ad campaigns are paid by number of impressions or click-throughs. There are also countless services that offer Facebook fans in bulk for a flat fee, many of which are scams that do not deliver real people or any Likes at all for that matter. The image above is from Freelancer.com in October 2011, showing requests for "over the top" numbers of Likes. See clickjacking.
