Definition: Information Mapping

A method for communicating information in a structured manner. Developed by Robert E. Horn while at Harvard and Columbia Universities, it provides a standard approach for analyzing, organizing and visually presenting information based on the needs of the target audience. Although software may be used to assist the process, Information Mapping is not an algorithm, but a procedure that must be learned by its users.
