Definition: interference-to-noise ratio

The ratio of interference in a circuit or line to the noise. A signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) deals with noise that comes from the inherent qualities of the electronic components or the atmosphere and is mostly a static measurement. In contrast, interference-to-noise ratio (INR) is more of a dynamic measurement, typically used to measure a particular disturbance present at a given moment. See signal-to-noise ratio.
