Definition: Gorilla Glass


A protective, clear glass used to cover the screens of smartphones and other devices from Corning Incorporated, Corning, NY. Originally developed in the 1960s, the glass is relatively scratch proof even after prolonged use, and it is extremely durable. Corning's Project Phire is expected to develop a sapphire version of Gorilla Glass that is more scratch resistant. See sapphire glass.
