Definition: Google Currents


(1) A workplace collaboration application for business that is included in the Google Workspace suite. Somewhat like the very popular Slack application, Google Currents went into beta in 2020. Elements were taken from Google+, Google's social networking app that lasted until 2018. See Google+ and Google Workspace.

(2) An earlier magazine app from Google. Introduced in 2011, Currents provided access to full-length articles but was superseded by Google Play Newsstand in 2013.
