Definition: Samsung Gear S
Samsung's first stand-alone smartwatch. Introduced in 2014, the Tizen-based Gear S featured Bluetooth for smartphone connectivity and 3G cellular for calls with a built-in phone number. GPS navigation, 24-hour news and health apps were standard. Cellular capability became an option in the successor to the Gear S line (see Galaxy Watch). See Samsung Gear, Tizen and smartwatch.
