An earlier database and runtime engine from Ross Enterprise (the ERP division of CDC Software) that was noted for its high transaction performance and scalability. Part of the Ross suite of products, GEMBASE ran on Windows NT/2000, OpenVMS and Unix servers that supported dumb terminals and Windows clients. Its DML scripting language could access Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases as well as provide application partitioning.
GEMBASE's largest customer had been Ross itself, developer of the iRenaissance suite (later Ross ERP) for the process manufacturing industry. GEMBASE was originally developed by Pioneer Computing. See
