Definition: VESA Mounting Interface Standard

A VESA standard for the position of screw holes in the back of a TV or monitor for attachment to a wall mount or desktop arm. Introduced in 1997 as the Flat Panel Monitor Physical Mounting Interface (FPMPMI), the original standard became part D in a variety of specifications (B, C, D, E and F) primarily based on maximum weight.

The wall mount attaches to the back of the screen with four screws. The larger the screen, the farther apart the holes. For screens up to 32", the holes are 100mm apart at the four corners of a square pattern. Up to 55" 200mm; larger than 55" 300mm or 400mm; larger than 65" a 600x400mm in a rectangle orientation.
