Apple's facial recognition, which debuted on the iPhone X in 2017 and third-generation iPad Pro in 2018. Face ID replaced Apple's Touch ID fingerprint scanner located on the Home button, which was eliminated in order to narrow the bottom bezel. See Touch ID
